About the role:

Bethany is excited to advertise for the role of Community Educator/Venue Support Worker within our Gamblers Help program. This position is part time (0.8 FTE), ongoing, based in Warrnambool, and will report to the Team Leader - Health Promotion and Prevention.

The core purpose of this role is to support Bethany’s commitment to raising awareness of the risks and potential harm from gambling, and delivering services to support gamblers, their families and the community.

Key responsibilities:

  • Deliver gambling harm training within various community and educational settings including health promotion activities as set out in the plan which is culturally appropriate to minimise the impacts associated with gambling
  • Assist in building and sustaining strong relationships with relevant local organisations and participate in key activities in relation to raising awareness in order to identify and respond to gambling- related harm
  • Deliver and assess the Responsible Service of Gaming module ll
  • Develop strong partnerships to support venue management in their ongoing effort to foster a culture of responsible gambling
  • Educate gaming venue staff in managing responsible gambling measures and venue staff capacity to identify and act on problem gambling

About you:

  • A tertiary qualification in Community Development/ Education, Health Promotion, Social Work, or Psychology at degree or diploma level
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment TAE40116
  • Demonstrated experience and/or knowledge in health promotion, community development or community services
  • Experience in the delivery of adult training and presentations
  • An understanding of the signs, impacts and dynamics of problem gambling
