Ngunya Jarjum Aboriginal Child & Family Network Inc. are seeking to recruit a driven, motivated and experienced Chief Executive Officer. Ngunya Jarjum are a community based service, which is made up of dedicated Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who are committed to improving services for children and families in the area. They provide voluntary care, crisis, short-term and long-term out of home care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children from the Clarence, Richmond and Tweed Valley areas. They are the largest service of their kind in this region.

The Role:

Reporting directly to the Board, the CEO will need to be collaborative and not afraid of a challenge. As the CEO you will lead the organisation and be responsible for the success and growth of their financial management, human resources management and program management. You will be a strong leader who is passionate about training and developing your team.

Responsibilities:

  • Stewardship of all business functions including HR & People Leadership, Compliance, Business Systems, Risk & WHS
  • Provide high level leadership to a team of 3 managers and oversight for a team of approx. 30 case workers in a complex environment
  • Managing Quality & Compliance, Finance & Operations and Programs
  • Become a best practice organisation including WH&S, financial reporting, case outcomes
  • Ensure successful delivery of programs run by the organisation
  • Build & maintain relationships with key stakeholders
  • Foster positive relationships with community networks & Elders
  • Confidently monitor budgets
  • Ensure all staff are receiving the best training & support to deliver their roles
  • Be the spokesperson & advocate for Ngunya Jarjum & their services
  • Negotiate and manage the compliance & reporting for all funding agreements
  • Prepare and regularly review strategic plan
  • Work with the Board of Directors to implementing policy and initiatives needed for future growth and success

About you:

  • From Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islands decent
  • Extensive experience in a similar role leading people, programs and policy
  • Have a strong knowledge of out of home care or another related family service
  • Experience in governance and the management of not for profit organisations
  • High level skills in speaking, writing and community representation
  • A positive, empowering personality to drive a team & organisation to success
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications
