About Us

Barragunda Estate is a regenerative farm nestled in the beautiful landscape of Cape Schanck on the Mornington Peninsula. Our diverse operations include cattle and sheep grazing, an orchard with a wide variety of fruits and nuts, a thriving market garden, and beekeeping. In addition, the estate is a venue for weddings in Spring and Autumn, with a restaurant soon to open. We are dedicated to sustainable and regenerative agricultural practices.

The Role

We are seeking a dedicated Farm Assistant with qualifications and/or experience in horticulture and orchard management. This full-time role will also involve livestock care and general property maintenance. You will need a driver’s licence (manual preferred) and the ability to operate heavy machinery. Extensive training will be provided, but you must feel confident working independently and managing diverse tasks on the farm.

Key Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the care of an 8-acre orchard, which includes avocados, apples, lemons, limes, figs, pears, quinces, almonds, grapefruit, oranges, olives, and more
    • Duties include mulching, pruning, planting, spraying, and managing irrigation lines
  • Livestock care, including feeding and monitoring cattle and sheep
  • Maintenance of farm machinery and general upkeep of the grounds
  • Assisting with pasture management, irrigation, and revegetation projects
  • Supporting other general farm tasks as needed

Requirements

Salary range between $55,000 and $65,000 (negotiable, dependent on experience/qualifications).
