It's never been a better time to join the Banyule Community Health Oral Health Team. We are currently experiencing growth funding and have a new leadership team in place that is highly motivated to deliver the best oral health services to those most vulnerable. There is a strong team of clinicians and support staff in place excited to welcome a Senior Dentist to lead the best clinical practice management as part of the Oral Health leadership team.

We are looking to recruit a highly competent Clinician, who will be responsible for providing high level clinical leadership and support to the Oral Health Team. The Senior Dentist must demonstrate well developed interpersonal skills with experience in student supervision with a strong commitment to community based dental practice.

This a great opportunity to work in a professional and supportive team-based environment alongside other experienced Dental professionals. The position is full time, working from our West Heidelberg site.

Your motivation, interpersonal skills, and expertise as a Senior Dentist will see you excel in this role as you:

  • Provide direct clinical care including preventative, emergency, general care, and oral health education for clients with a high level of complexity.
  • Undertake supervision and teaching responsibilities to develop capable student clinicians.
  • Provide clinical support through mentoring and supervision of clinicians including student clinicians and less experienced clinicians.
  • Up skilling clinicians and supporting education programs.
  • Responsibilities in clinical incidents, complaints, and feedback management.
  • Conduct clinical audits as per Oral Health audit schedule.
  • Provide clinical input in the development and maintenance of oral health related document operations.
  • Undertake the role of Representative Public Dentist for Banyule.

What you will need:

  • Experience in processing patient referrals and records in accordance with our Clinical Record Standards and the Health Records Act.
  • An excellent communicator, highly organised and thorough with a appropriate attention to detail.
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience as a general dentist, preferably in a public dental setting.
  • Current unrestricted AHPRA registration and current Working with Children Check.
  • Experience in overseeing clinical quality assurance activities including auditing, incident, and feedback review.
  • Experience in providing guidance, feedback and advice to students and clinicians.
  • Committed to contributing to improving patient outcomes.
  • Current Radiation licence.
  • Experience with Titanium Client Database Management Software (preferred).

The Oral Health Program is a diverse service that provides a wide range of preventative, early intervention, and clinical treatments in line with the Banyule Community Health purpose. Comprising of a range of skilled and committed oral health practitioners, the team provides public and private treatment, with a focus on care to those most vulnerable in the community. The Oral Health Program sits within an integrated model of care that the Community Health model supports and works in partnership with on a daily basis. The Oral Health Program is fully accredited, has outreach models of care and provides Dentist training program in conjunction with the University of Melbourne and Dental Health Services Victoria.
