Banyule Community Health is looking to recruit a highly motivated and skilled Health Promotion Officer with excellent Community Development, Co-design, and evaluation skills, to work within the diverse community of West Heidelberg (3081). This position will have the responsibility for the smooth running of Buna Reserve Community Garden as well as the development and delivery of other healthy eating/ active living projects. This is a great opportunity to work with schools and local community, in a professional and team-based environment, alongside other experienced Health Promotion Officers.

Your self-motivation, interpersonal skills, and expertise as a Health Promotion Officer will see you excel in this role as you:

  • Coordinate the smooth running and efficiency of the Community Garden, including strengthening community engagement, weekly planning, gardening, community openings, and harvests.
  • Identify, support, develop and/ or deliver new initiatives which promote healthy and active living and which support the strategic direction of the organisation.
  • Support, develop and deliver Health Promotion initiatives including programs and grant writing.
  • Work collaboratively with Community, Volunteers, and the BCH Health Promotion Team and attend regular scheduled meetings.
  • Build and maintain working partnerships with other services and stakeholders.

What you will need

  • Relevant tertiary qualification e.g. Health Promotion, Public Health, Social or Health Science or equivalent degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience in outreach, co-design and relational working practice.
  • Excellent project management, promotion and evaluation skills.
  • Knowledge and experience in Gardening / Horticulture (desirable)
  • Ability to speak an additional relevant community language (desirable)

The Community Wellbeing team delivers dynamic and diverse services with a focus on improving health and wellbeing of local communities. Driven by principles of person centred care, self-management and community engagement, the team provides a wide range of programs to different population groups across the north-east and north-west metropolitan region.
