Banksia Gardens Community Services is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Youth and Community Support Worker to join our team. The successful candidate will provide holistic and strengths-based intensive case management support for young people with complex needs. Our work is trauma-informed, motivated by social justice principles, and considers individuals and their family within the broader context of social systems.

The majority of support work will be delivering targeted care packages to support people who have a child protection order in place and are at risk of placement breakdown.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Excellent assessment skills, including risk assessment of children and young people and their caregivers
  • Demonstrated case management skills with complex families and at-risk children and young people
  • Knowledge and experience of maintaining positive working relationships with Child Protection Services and other service professionals and families in challenging situations to ensure effective care
  • Assessing client needs and developing individualised, culturally safe care plans
  • Non-judgemental and respectful approach to all service users
  • Demonstrated case management skills with complex families and at-risk children and young people
  • Knowledge and experience of maintaining positive working relationships with Child Protection Services and other professionals and families in challenging situations
  • Providing support and assistance to clients in a variety of settings, including in-home and community-based
  • Participating in regular team meetings and case reviews

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Youth Work or related field
  • Minimum 1-2 years case management experience and understanding of child protection system
  • Preferable to have experience with Targeted Care Packages
  • Experience working with clients with Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • A valid driver's license
