We are currently seeking a permanent, full time Financial Accountant Tax Compliance and Reporting to join the Finance Team at Head Office in Collingwood. This position will ensure the bank is compliant with external reporting obligations. These requirements may involve project work to support the growth of the bank, ensure the bank has the appropriate infrastructure to support ongoing compliance reporting obligations, and to comply with any changes in the reporting landscape.

What you will be doing
- Prepare taxation returns and other taxation filings, including determination of monthly income tax liability
- Prepare and record the monthly income tax accounting entries
- Prepare and lodge the annual income tax returns for all legal entities
- Liaise with other teams as required to review the fixed asset register and the fixed asset work-in-progress account, the position and performance of the derivative portfolio and hedge accounting
- Prepare and lodge the monthly Business Activity Statement
- Review GST apportionment analysis and rates on an annual basis
- Maintain the fringe benefit tax schedules, prepare and lodge the annual Fringe Benefit Tax return and review the bank’s FBT application and arrangements
- Liaise with the Payroll team regarding tax matters as required
- Support monitoring business activity and controls over CRS and FATCA compliance and oversee and review the annual report submissions to the ATO
- Support monitoring processes and controls over AIIR reporting
- Oversee and monitor the efficient and effective performance of the bank’s tax risk management and governance framework
- Coordinate the quarterly attestation process governing significant and material tax transactions
- Assist preparation of annual attestation of tax compliance and reporting obligations, compliance plans and updating of tax-related risks, controls and obligations
- Review and oversee tax related balances and disclosures in the Financial Report and prepare the Tax Transparency Report and the Reportable Tax Position schedule
- Provide back-up coverage to the payroll function.
What you will bring
- Professional experience in an APRA regulated bank and/or accounting profession
- Experience in financial and tax compliance and reporting
- Good understanding of accounting standards, policies and guides
- Understanding of business process, control and best practise
- Focus on continuous, high quality business process improvements
- Exposure to other banking functions, such as business, risk, information technology and change management would be an advantage
- Logical and analytical thinking with strong attention to detail
- A positive, self-starting and highly motivated attitude
- Good skill and knowledge in Microsoft Office suite
- Tertiary qualifications in commerce, accounting, economics or other relevant area
