Temporary Supported Accommodation [TSA] Manager
This position manages the effective operations of a 24/7, temporary supported accommodation for 19 young people aged 16-25 and leads a team of youth workers providing young people with tenancy and living skills, and planned support to ensure their housing and other goals are identified and met.
Employment Type & Hours: Full-time | 76 hours per fortnight. Immediate start available
Award Conditions: Social, Community, Home Care & Disabilities Services [SCHADS] Award 2010. Crisis Accommodation Worker Level 4 [equivalent to SACS pay level 6]
Salary: $102,537.65 - $107,072.13 + superannuation + excellent not-for-profit salary packaging benefits

- Understanding of and commitment to BYS vision, objectives and practice framework and demonstrated understanding of the issues impacting young people experiencing or at risk of homelessness
- Highly developed critical thinking, problem solving and risk management skills and the demonstrated application of these in a busy frontline service delivery setting
- Demonstrated ability to lead, inspire and effectively manage a team of professional staff to achieve positive outcomes for young people
- Demonstrated ability to plan, implement, monitor and evaluate programs and service responses with a focus on continuous improvement
- Strong communication, organisational and planning skills and the demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and demands
- Ability to work without daily supervision, exercising an informed level of initiative, judgement and decision making

Education, Qualifications, Requirements [Mandatory]:
- A tertiary qualification in Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, Social Sciences or comparable qualification OR substantial demonstrated experience in similar service delivery
- Current Queensland driver’s license
- Working with Children Suitability Card [Blue Card] / willingness to obtain a Blue Card prior to commencement
- National Police Check Clearance
- Evidence of vaccination, immunity, or medical exemption for the following preventable diseases prior to commencement: Measles, Mumps, Rubella and Varicella [Chicken Pox]; Pertussis [Whooping Cough]; and COVID-19
- Three relevant references
Skills & Experience:
- Previous project management and team leadership experience in the not-for-profit sector
- Experience providing frontline services in a high paced environment
- Experience in delivering programs and services to vulnerable young people (desirable), monitoring and reporting on program key performance indicators and deliver agreed outcomes in accordance with service agreements
- Experience in developing networks and collaborative relationships with external providers
- Experience in managing and mitigating operational risks in service delivery

Leadership:
- Demonstrate leadership qualities, supervise team members, monitor performance, maintain supervision records, learning, development, self-care, and annual performance development plans in line with BYS policies and guidelines
- Lead and support the team to manage and mitigate operational risks for young people, contractors, visiting services and staff.
- Maintain relevant service standards to ensure quality service provision including participation in and contribution to program evaluation activities to continuously adapt and improve service responses for young people
- Manage team recruitment and induction processes including training, practice mentoring and shadowing opportunities in line with BYS policies and procedures
- Identify opportunities for service growth and contribute to the development of service models and funding submissions
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialist supported accommodation services for young people in accordance with the relevant program guidelines and service standards
- Lead a team of workers to provide intake, assessment, brief intervention and planned support including identifying housing goals, tenancy skills and other supports for vulnerable young people
- Utilise the Queensland Homelessness Information Platform (QHIP) to receive and manage referrals and housing allocations from across the homelessness service system.
- Develop, monitor, and review client support plans in line with BYS practice framework, organisational policies and procedures including supporting young people to access legal, physical and mental health support, education and employment, and engage with their community
- Identify, mitigate and monitor risks in the delivery of services to young people
- Manage critical incident responses to ensure the safety of young people, staff and the community
- Contribute to the development of organisational policies and procedures and ensure compliance with relevant service standards
- Contribute to and participate in program evaluation activities and utilise learnings to continuously adapt and improve service responses to young people
- Transport groups and individuals to appointments, meetings, and any other activities as required
- Drive performance and accountability for achieving expected outcomes

Administration:
- Manage administrative functions relating to the role, team and program in accordance with relevant policies and procedures
- Monitor and report performance against contracted targets and liaise with funding bodies as required
- Ensure appropriate records are created and maintained in accordance with relevant legislation and organisational policies
- Provide monthly reports to the Board and as required to the Executive Management Team
- Manage and approve timesheets and leave requests accurately and on time on a fortnightly basis, in accordance with relevant legislation and organisational policy and procedure
- Undertake any other tasks as required
