If you have a desire to be part of a passionate, committed, people-oriented team who is committed to ending poverty... then you’re in the right place!

Baptist World Aid Australia is an international Christian development organisation working in 18 countries. We partner with like-minded organisations overseas to implement community development and disaster projects that empower communities to lift themselves out of poverty. Last year, our work directly benefited 332,391 people.

When you join Baptist World Aid, you’ll become part of a rich, 60-year history. As a valued Copy & Feature Writer, you’ll be integral to achieving our mission of helping Australians tackle the injustice of global poverty. The Marketing and Communications Team is a high achieving team, that works collaboratively across the organisation and is key to ensuring our faithful Australian supporters are connected with the work and beneficiaries of our projects around the world.

We’re looking for someone with the know-how, passion, and commitment to inspire our faithful supporters to action on poverty… is it you?

Who we are looking for? Copy & Feature Writer

Location: North Ryde, NSW with flexibility and remote applications welcome!

Position: Permanent Part Time position – 21 hours per week

If you want to work in a supportive team environment and thrive when working collaboratively towards team goals and targets, then this role is for you! You will work alongside the Communications Team as well as with cross-team internal and external stakeholders to contribute to the delivery of content and marketing communications, including magazine and blog. You will coordinate writing workflow to briefs and participate in collaborative working groups. You will develop and drive content ideas and copywriting for fundraising campaigns, supporter engagement and projects consistent with brand guidelines and the Content Strategy.

This role is ideal for a self-motivated individual, who has experiences as a copy or feature writer. Your personal mission for building a better world for all matches your professional one and informs your work. You’re one of those writers who can see the colour and unusual details that set apart a story and invite readers to it. You’re a pro and know how to juggle and respect deadlines, genres and research, while navigating a range of topics and respecting people who are passionate about each, such as addressing global poverty and empowering local communities, advocacy efforts, child sponsorship, church relations and Christian formation.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Writing experience in marketing, fundraising or related communication
  • Project coordination: ability to manage multiple writing tasks and work to deadlines
  • Demonstrated relationship management and negotiation skills with internal and external stakeholders
  • High standard of written and spoken English
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and professional excellence
  • Demonstrated experience in creative thinking, messaging and innovation

As a Christian, you’ll share our vision for a world without poverty as God intends… and participate enthusiastically in prayer sessions, biblical reflection sessions and church services.
