Summary of program and its objectives:

The Children's Programs area has responsibility for the provision of services, advocacy and policy support work in several areas including the Early Years, school re-engagement programs and HIPPY. Frankston North Community ImpactThe work in Frankston North provides a unique opportunity to develop a collaborative approach to children’s education and parents’ capacity to become positive educators for their children. This is a new development and will involve strong relationships with schools, community and other agencies as well as internal BSL projects and programs.  

Main responsibilities of the role:   

The role of the Project Support Officer is to support the Senior Manager Community Impact - Frankston Mornington-Peninsula, with specific involvement in the work of the Brotherhood in the North Frankston Collective Impact initiatives.  In particular, the person in this role will engage with community participants and project staff to support project governance, evaluation, funding and documentation. 

To meet the selection criteria, candidates will require:

Essential

  • Relevant undergraduate and/or post-graduate qualifications
  • Experience in community engagement and skills in collaboration
  • Demonstrated strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks including ability to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines while maintaining a high attention to detail
  • Proven understanding of project governance, management, reporting systems and processes
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise and effectively maintain stakeholder relationships
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to contribute to project reports, general correspondence, meeting minutes, develop project materials for web pages or promotional literature. Experience in drafting funding grants would be well regarded
  • Demonstrated skills in research, data collection and storage protocols
  • Demonstrated initiative with an ability to work independently and as an effective team member to achieve objectives
  • Demonstrated knowledge and competence in Microsoft Office Programs including Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Understanding of and empathy with the values and ideals of the Brotherhood. 

Desirable

  • Knowledge of early and middle years development, and experience in community development

This is a part time position working 22.8 hours per week for a maximum term of 6 months. 

Salary will be in the range of $69,305.03 - $75,960.93 pro-rata per annum, based on skills and experience plus superannuation. Attractive salary packaging provisions are available to increase take home pay.
