The Role

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Digital Marketing, this role acts as the digital acquisition and paid promotion lead for the organisation, responsible for developing and executing successful SEM and social advertising campaigns that drive high-quality traffic and conversions across multiple paid media channels.

The role supports the Black Dog Institute’s strategic goals to maximise knowledge translation across a range of audiences including consumers, health professionals, workplaces, and stakeholders, and reach the 60% of people who experience symptoms of mental illness but don’t seek help by connecting them with relevant products, services and offerings. Social media and other paid acquisition channels such as SEM are accessible and scalable ways for BDI to share information with the public and many of our hard to-reach audiences, and this role is accountable for the management and continuous optimisation of our paid activities to ensure cost efficiency and strong lead performance. This includes working closely with cross-functional digital teams, including creative, content, organic social, and product, to ensure seamless execution of campaigns and brand consistency across all touchpoints.

Duties & Responsibilities

Paid Media

  • Paid Media Strategy - Working with internal project stakeholders to understand the campaign objectives and budgets, you will provide recommendations on the best way to meet their goals using paid media strategies. These campaigns will focus on objectives to increase reach and brand awareness, drive traffic, generate leads, increase revenue, and build online communities.
  • Paid Media Management: - The Paid Media Manager is responsible for the planning, execution and optimisation of paid performance activities on our digital channels. This may include Meta Ads Manager (Facebook and Instagram), LinkedIn Ads, Twitter Ads, Snapchat Ads, TikTok Ads, and Google Ads (Performance Max, Search & Display). You will write best practice ad copy, set up, optimise, and report on these campaigns, and help our internal stakeholders to reach their goals and KPIs.
  • As Paid Media Manager, your role will include testing and exploring new and emerging channels, platforms, creative, and targeting opportunities to ensure that we’re delivering the highest ROI for our internal stakeholders.

Employee Management

  • The Paid Media Manager will be the directly supervising the Social Media Officer, this role is accountable for our organic social channels including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and Twitter.

Finance and Reporting

  • The Paid Media Manager is responsible for large budgets across multiple campaigns and channels, including providing best practice guidance on budget allocation, forecasting, and optimisation, and helping to set realistic performance goals.

Stakeholder Management

  • Working with a larger External Communications team that includes specialists in website experience (SEO and UX), email marketing, organic social media, online communities, creative and content production, media & PR, and product marketing strategies. The team also work closely with digital and PR agencies to maintain realistic in-house capacity, and external copyrighters and graphic designers when required.

Skills & Experience Required

  • 5 + years’ experience in Digital Marketing, with a focus in either Paid Social or Programmatic and a strong track record in execution and implementation of successful digital strategies.
  • 1+ years people management experience in a marketing, advertising, media, or similar industry role.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in marketing, advertising, media, or similar.
  • Experience working with strong advertising budgets and scaling performance of multiple campaigns to meet performance KPIs.
  • Experience with ad platforms such as Google Ads, Facebook Ads Manager, and other paid media management tools.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience using data to inform decision-making, including practical experience with Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager
