Through effective communications, we lead Australia’s population health response to suicide prevention and champion the ongoing conversation of mental health in our society.

We undertake a unique ‘translational’ research approach that allows us to turn our world-class findings into new treatments, prevention strategies, clinical services, educational programs, and e-health products.

The Role

Play a key role in the communications support function for Black Dog Institutes ambitious 5-year strategy and significant organisational growth. Work closely with executive and change teams to ensure the success of major projects being implemented across the institute. Use your skills and experience to champion the design, production, and implementation of communications to assist our workforce in adopting new ways of working that are aligned with our strategic plan. This role works at both strategic and operational levels to bring clarity and transparency to organisational and department change, ensuring our new initiatives are well understood and adopted.

Key Duties

  • Work in collaboration with the Senior Strategic Project Manager and Operational Change Manager to develop, implement and measure change communications strategies.
  • Develop and deliver communications plans and including messaging, talking points, written and visual content, presentations, workshops, events, and surveys.
  • Support and work within the internal communications framework (in collaboration with the relevant stakeholders) to plan, create, and deliver effective change communications.
  • Provide strategic change communications advice and guidance to the Executive Leadership Team
  • Be the key communications contact for change sponsors, change manager and the broader Executive Leadership Team for change matters.

About You

  • 8+ years' experience in communications with a demonstrated track record of effective communications related to change initiatives.
  • Previous experience of building successful and trusting working relationships with executive and high level stakeholders.
  • Highly developed written and interpersonal skills with the ability to positively influence outcomes and take a solutions focused approach to problem solving.
  • Demonstrated ability to turn complex concepts into clear and compelling communications assets.
  • Highly developed facilitation and presentation skills
  • Confidence in working with communication platforms, processes, and tools such as Campaign Monitor, Intranet (SharePoint), online collaboration tools like Mural, project management platforms like Airtable, Microsoft Office including PowerPoint.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience working with change with academics, scientists, or other technical experts in mid-sized organisations (200+ staff).
  • Experience in developing and delivering engaging and effective communications strategies in a hybrid and remote working environment
  • Qualifications (such as PROSCI) or other certifications in change management
