- Employment Location: Ochre Health Hub, Hardwick Cres Holt, ACT. This position will be working at participants homes and community locations
Position Overview
The individual in this position will be required to provide transport to participants who are frail aged and/or have a disability. The worker will work in situations which require a degree of flexibility, empathy and problem solving and will be expected to provide physical support to individuals as required.
Special Position Requirements
Hold a Current Driver’s licence and demonstrated safe and responsible driving record.
Requirements
- BCS employees must hold a satisfactory Working with Vulnerable People registration and have this with them at all times whilst employed by BCS.
- BCS employees are required to undertake a National Criminal History Clearance by BCS prior to commencing and every three years thereafter as a condition of employment. Employees are required to advise BCS of any convictions that may affect their eligibility to work or performing the inherent requirements of their position.
- BCS may require the incumbent to undertake employment screening such as a medical assessment, functional assessment or psychological profile prior to an offer of employment and/or as determined by BCS during employment.
Essential Qualifications
- Current First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
Essential Skills, Knowledge and Experience
- Possess the personal attributes of optimism, resilience and flexibility.
- Knowledge of issues relating to people who are ageing and/or have a disability.
- Demonstrated responsible driving record and safe driving skills.
- Ability to physically assist people in/out of the vehicle and load and unload wheelchairs and walking frames.
- Proven record of punctuality and reliability.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to demonstrate empathy and understanding to individuals.
- Ability to work to established work practices.
- Ability to uphold the principles of cultural diversity and a strong commitment to equal access and inclusion principles.
- Sound knowledge of the Canberra region and the ACT road system
Desirable Qualifications
Desirable Skills, Knowledge and Experience
- Knowledge of BCS and other service providers within ACT.
- High level knowledge of the community sector.
