Exciting opportunity to join the second largest municipality in Melbourne’s metropolitan west. Located about 20 kms from the central business district, Brimbank City Council is culturally diverse.
We are currently seeking a Diversity and Inclusion Officer to join the Connected Communities Unit within the Community Strengthening and Social Policy Department based at our offices in 301 Hampshire Road Sunshine.
The role
Reporting to the Connected Communities Coordinator, your role will be to advise, facilitate and promote diversity across Council through:
- Providing high level and expert advice to the organisation and other stakeholders as required, on the integration of Brimbank community’s diversity and inclusion aspects into policies, plans, strategies and programs.
- Being a key contributor in driving the development and implementation of the Brimbank Settlement Action Plan.
- Seeking to strengthen Council’s ability to serve our community through providing advice, capacity building and promoting the advancement of our philosophy on valuing a diverse community and workplace that reflects the community we serve.
- Developing and strengthening partnerships and knowledge networks within the organisation and the community that promote community harmony and inclusion.
- Participating in organisational strategies that positively transform organisations culture in the domains of diversity and inclusion.

- Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in community development, project management and engagement principles.

- Ability to build partnerships and use flexible approaches to negotiate the support and collaboration of Council and external stakeholders to implement local initiatives.
- Well-developed verbal and written communication skills with the ability to produce correspondence, reports, plans and presentations to communicate key messages.
- Ability to plan, co-ordinate and prioritise a demanding workload, along with demonstrated resourcefulness and initiative to complete objectives within given timelines.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and autonomously within a team environment.
