About the Role

You’ll be responsible for leading the communications to support the National Scheme’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health and Cultural Safety Strategy 2020-2025.

Reporting to the Manager, Media and Digital and working closely with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Strategy Unit (HSU), you’ll provide strategic communications advice and develop communications strategies and collateral to support culturally safe healthcare for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People.

  • your ability to elevate Ahpra’s profile within Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities by raising awareness of our commitment to cultural safety and eliminating racism from healthcare with layered communication strategies
  • your strong connection to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples, communities, culture and working, knowing and living as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person. 

As the ideal candidate you will demonstrate the following:

  • A strong understanding, demonstration of, and respect for, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples, cultures and cultural safety.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including an ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders, particularly Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing strategic communications advice in a complex and fast-moving stakeholder and media environment.
  • Excellent written communication skills and experience developing content across various channels.
  • Highly developed ability to successfully manage multiple projects, completing deadlines and high-volume workloads.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively as part of a virtual team environment and also show initiative and work independently when required.
  • Degree level qualification in communications, an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander or related discipline, and/or equivalent experience working in communications or engagement.
