about us
B-Alternative is an environmental solutions group shaking things up for a planet-positive future! We aim to cultivate awareness of environmental issues and to provide low-impact alternatives to businesses, organisations and events.
B-Alternative is, first and foremost, an advocate for change towards waste reduction. We combine this core pillar with transparent and research-based education, as well as Earth-friendly products - including both reusable and truly compostable supplies - to form an effective, wide-reaching service.
purpose of the position
The largest pillar of our offer is to Festivals and Events, which can generate huge amounts of waste in food and drink packaging. Because of their usually regional location, large events with crowds of people can have an immediate detrimental effect on the surrounding environment, and then ongoing to the planet through producing large amounts of waste going to landfill.
B-Alternative helps festival goers Party with the Planet, by consulting with event organisers and providing waste management and reduction services.
We offer:
- Reusable Crockery Model – B-Alternative supplies and washes reusable bowls, plates and cutlery, and circulates these back to food vendors.
- Resource Recovery System - B-Alternative supplies signed resource recovery stations for effective resource stream management as well as back of house sorting into streams for effective landfill diversion.
- Patron/Campground Education - B-Alternative staff educate patrons at resource recovery stations and in campgrounds to ensure festival goers leave no trace.
The Events Project Manager is responsible for end-to-end B-Alternative services to Event customers, from quoting and securing business (with GM and Director) to delivery of services on the day, including:
- Engage and roster staff and volunteers
- Attend planning meetings with festival organisers
- Engage waste services and contractors
- Coordinate packaging/reusable requirements for vendors & oversee orders, delivery and distribution on-site
- Coordinate B-A packaging, waste, accounts and marketing specialists to support festivals delivery
