- Job type: 0.8 - 1.0 FTE, 1 year contract with intention for renewal, subject to funding

RE-Alliance (REA) is an independent not-for-profit working to deliver a renewable energy transformation in Australia filled with sustainable, long-term benefits for regional communities.
We do this by listening to the needs and concerns of impacted local communities, facilitating collaboration across the industry to achieve social good and advocating for improved regional outcomes at a policy level.
The Community Engagement Manager is a critical part of the REA team, working with regional communities, Councils and the Queensland Government towards the ultimate goal of helping the transition to renewables benefit local regional economies and communities.
key responsibilities
In this role your work will include:
- Building and maintaining productive relationships with a wide range of local community stakeholders in Renewable Energy Zones
- Supporting and building the capacity of community stakeholders to self-organise, network and advocate
- Identifying opportunities to promote positive examples of how renewables can benefit regions in the media and at events
- Contributing to the preparation of papers, reports and documentation
key selection criteria
Essential
- At least 3 years professional experience in community development, community consultation, engagement, advocacy or related fields
- Demonstrated record of maintaining productive relationships with state or local government to advocate or deliver outcomes
- Demonstrated record of delivering successful community events at a range of scales in collaboration with partners and stakeholders, including adapting to challenges and managing sensitive issues
- High level written and oral communication skills with experience communicating complex concepts to a wide range of audiences
- A passion for building Australia’s renewable energy future and improving the fabric of local communities
- Current valid driver’s licence and ability to travel widely on the Eastern Seaboard
- Ability to easily pick up and use modern online communication tools such as Zoom, Slack, Google Drive, and Nationbuilder
Desirable
- Understanding of the needs and opportunities in rural and regional Australia and preferably living within a Renewable Energy Zone
- Awareness of the Australian renewable energy sector status, opportunities and issues
