  • Science - delivering the largest national biological survey program with a focus on measuring the population of indicator species and the extent of threatening processes as well as conducting research on key issues such as feral cat control.
  • Fundraising - mobilising finance (primarily, tax deductible donations) from the general public and philanthropists including through effective communication of field updates from around the AWC estate.

About the Job

AWC is seeking a committed and driven leader to drive fundraising initiatives and growth for the organisation based either from the Sydney office or the Perth office. As a senior member of the Development Team, the National Manager, Fundraising Programs plays a leading role in driving new donor acquisition and fundraising growth for AWC to increase our supporter base and fundraising income. Leading a program-driven fundraising team, focused on general, regular, mid-level and bequest giving, this role will develop strategies for the acquisition, retention and growth of key donor segments; implement national fundraising campaigns and appeals; plus lead the digital and mass-stewardship of existing donors to maximise their support.

This is a central role within the Development team that collaborates across all business areas to engage audiences in our fundraising objectives, coordinate appeal and campaign-related coverage, convert new audiences to supporters and lead strategies to increase donor giving and fundraising.

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline,
  • A minimum of 5 years of demonstrated leadership in a multi-channel fundraising/sales role, covering a variety of areas across fundraising (digital donor acquisition, mass donor stewardship, bequests, etc.),
  • Knowledge of current philanthropy/fundraising issues or the ability to readily acquire knowledge,
  • Demonstrated prior experience in leading a fundraising or sales program of scale and complexity,
  • Demonstrated knowledge of CRM-based client relationship management and the interaction of fundraising programs with an organisation's data management system,
  • Exceptional communication, influencing, relationship skills, with a proven ability to liaise with a multitude of stakeholders to build engagement and establish solid relationships for the purpose of fundraising,
  • Strong organisational skills, with a demonstrated ability to manage a large number of relationships and execute many tasks simultaneously in an efficient manner,
  • Demonstrated experience in providing leadership and managing a team,
  • Demonstrated ability to act as part of a team or, as required, independently,
  • A willingness to travel occasionally to AWC sanctuaries or major Australian cities for donor and internal management purposes,
