Australia for UNHCR is an international aid agency that raises funds from the private sector to support the humanitarian operations of the UN Refugee Agency. Established in 2000 as part of a global fundraising network, it raised over $260 million from a broad network of individuals, community and corporate partners.

The Digital Marketing Manager plays a key role in supporting the execution of the digital fundraising and marketing strategies. This role also supports key revenue generation activities at the organisation, including digital fundraising and digital transformation efforts and supports the development and execution of the one-time giving and regular giving programs with a focus on donor acquisition, development, and stewardship.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Head of Fundraising, the Digital Marketing Manager’s responsibilities include:

  • Develop the annual and long term digital roadmap for Australia and New Zealand.
  • Oversee the management and execution of an innovative digital fundraising strategy focusing on fundraising campaigns and direct response activities (offline and online), including one time giving and regular giving program.
  • Lead on continuous optimisation of digital donor acquisition, development, user experience and e-commerce programs.
  • Lead on activities with external agencies and internal UNHCR suppliers and agencies.
  • Respond to sudden onset and protracted emergency situations.
  • Define goals for income generating activities and report against baseline data and industry benchmarks.
  • Oversee digital donor persona and journey stewardship and development.
  • Review donor data and activity to identify patterns and behaviours we can use to improve the donor experience.
  • Increase internal awareness and understanding of the digital donor journey lifecycle and key donor metrics.
  • Oversee SEO and CRO strategies for Australia and New Zealand and drive implementation of best practices to improve organic rankings and conversation rates.
  • Support on the deployment of organisation’s digital transformation strategy for optimisation, conversion and positive user experience.
  • Support planning and execution of a digital test and learn program.
  • Provide fundraising and user trends across the various digital programs and platforms.
  • Manage and lead the Digital team meet targets, improve skills and meet performance expectations.

The successful application will possess the following attributes

Essential:

  • Prior experience in digital marketing, campaign management, account management, ecommerce, data analytics or similar role.
  • 4+ years prior experience implementing integrated multichannel digital marketing campaigns for digital fundraising programs across web, social, mobile, sms and email channels.
  • Experience managing people.
  • Proven ability to analyse and interpret financial performance data.
  • Experienced marketer able to develop and analyse campaign plans and recommend improvements to increase performance.
  • Experienced Google Adwords, Analytics and Tag Manager user.
  • Sound understanding of payment gateways, ecommerce systems, processes and services.
  • Skilled producer of analytical dashboards, tables and reports.
  • Experienced Microsoft Office suite user with strong Excel skills.

Desirable:

  • Prior experience managing disaster or crisis fundraising appeals and campaigns including emergency fundraising appeals and campaigns, DRTV and/or pSMS (text to donate) donation programs for non-profits.
  • Previous experience using multichannel income attribution models and successfully running digital donor acquisition and retention programs.
