Aurora Regional Services in an NDIS registered provider of Positive Behaviour Support and Counselling. We support people with disability of all ages to improve relationships, manage complex behaviours and achieve their goals. We also run small group workshops that provide innovative, fun and engaging ways to build confidence and learn social and emotional skills in a small group setting.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a clinician you will work under the supervision of the Clinical Director to build your skills to assess, design and deliver evidence-based behaviour support interventions, counselling and therapeutic supports to children, adolescents and adults living with disability. You will work collaboratively with clients’ families, allied health professionals, health and disability support workers to provide tailored supports to meet our clients’ goals. You will also be responsible for providing training, education and support to families, carers and support workers.

We see the successful candidate as being passionate about working within the disability services sector, who is looking for a long term employment opportunity in an established, supportive clinical team. Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills are a must, along with knowledge of positive behaviour support approaches, including the use of authorised restrictive practices.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop, monitor and evaluate positive behaviour support plans in line with the customer goals that include plans to minimise the use of restrictive practices.
  • Apply your clinical knowledge and expertise to provide therapeutic supports to customers in the Mid North Coast.
  • Undertake observations, gather behavioural data, complete functional behaviour assessments and analyse risk.
  • Provide training and education in the individual’s behaviour support plan for family/carer, service providers and community involved in care and support.
  • Abide by the NDIS Quality and Safeguarding Commissions practice standards, the NDIA Code of Conduct and state based restrictive practice authorisation requirements.
  • Focus on supporting participants to increase their quality of life through self-determination and person-centred thinking.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • A tertiary qualification in Behavioural Science, Psychology, Counselling or Play Therapy (or working towards).
  • Evidence of completion of self-assessment against the PBS Capability Framework at core level or higher (or willingness to obtain within the probationary period).
  • Strong understanding of positive behaviour support approaches including the use of authorised restrictive practices.
  • Minimum two years of experience providing supports to adults and children with disability, mental health concerns or trauma background across home, community and/or clinical settings.
  • Current drivers’ licence and access to transportation with a willingness to travel to deliver face to face supports (weekly).
  • Registration with a peak body such as APRHA, ACA. PACFA or APPTA is desirable but not essential.
