Experience the uniqueness of Arnhem Land as you make a real, positive difference to the lives of children and their families.
Territory Families, Housing and Communities is a multi-functional human services and community-focused agency that works to provide responsive, safe and quality services and programs that empower communities and improve social outcomes for Territorians.
As a Child Protection Practitioner, you are responsible for delivering assessment, intervention, and case work services, and enhancing the skills, knowledge and capabilities of your colleagues and partner services through the provision of your professional expertise and demonstrated best practice. You will undertake statutory responsibilities and exercise delegations under the Care and Protection of Children Act 2007.
To be successful, you are required to have completed a relevant professional qualification, have experience conducting strength based assessments and interventions, and demonstrated knowledge of working within legislative frameworks. In addition, you need excellent verbal and listening skills and be computer literate. As we work on the Traditional Lands of the Yolngu and Anindilyakwa peoples, a strong knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture, family and community structures or the willingness and ability to learn and work with the local people and cultures is essential.
In return, you will be offered an attractive salary package including a generous market allowance, 6 weeks recreational and 3 weeks personal leave, 17.5% annual leave allowance, support to grow and develop your career and enjoy long term employment with the NT Government. Assistance with relocation and Government Employee Housing may be available to the successful applicant.
Arnhem Land is one of Australia’s last strongholds of traditional Aboriginal culture, breathtaking scenery and rare wildlife. Bound by rugged coastline and the Arafura Sea you will enjoy an enviable laidback lifestyle, white sandy beaches and a community spirit that makes it an easy place to meet people and make new friends.
