WHO ARE WE?

Applied Abilities is a growing NDIS provider who delivers SLES (School Leaver Employment Support) and Finding and Keeping a job programs. We believe that every person, regardless of their disability, should have the opportunity to engage within the workforce. Our caseload comprises of youths who are about to leave school, youths who have left school and Persons with Disabilities (PWD'S) of all ages. Applied Abilities turned 2 years old last week!

There is plenty of opportunities to make this role your own (you will be our first team leader) and grow with the business!

Applied Abilities run 'Our Space' in several locations throughout Brisbane. 'Our Space' comprises of three programs where our Participants are able to learn new skills to assist them in gaining employment. On completion of their course, they run a Pop-up Cafe and Shop with any proceeds going to a nominated charity.  

1. Creating Coffee - Participants will receive their Barista & Food Handling Certificates on completion.

2. Get Cooking - Participants learn to cook a new recipe every week and receive their food handling certificate at the end of the course.

3. Get Creative - Participants create new art or a jewellery piece each week and have the opportunity to speak with an accountant to create a micro business.

ABOUT THE ROLE

• Assist with running “Our Space” locations on the northside of Brisbane.
• Manage a small SLES caseload.
  • Goal Setting
  • Resume and Cover letter creation
  • Cold Canvassing
  • Community and Employer Engagement
  • Organisation of work experience and paid employment opportunities
• Assist with staff enquiries
• Assist with participant enquiries

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

• Adaptability and Versatility as no two days will be the same. One day you may be assisting our participants with handing out resumes within the community or at 'Our Space' and the next day, you may be working from home following up on those leads and your team.
• Tenacity and Outcomes focused - our role is to assist our participants in finding and keeping a job. we leave no stone unturned to create these opportunities.
• Experience working with Youth and Persons with Disabilities
• Checks & Licenses - Working with Children's check, Driver's License, Insured vehicle, current criminal history check

• 30 - 35 hours to start
