The Separation Services program provides professional, confidential counselling and support services to parents and children, assisting them come to terms with separation and co-parenting and empowering them to move from “surviving to thriving”. Mums and Dads Forever (MDF) within the Separation Services provides short term counselling sessions as well as facilitates a psycho-educational group program for parents and children assisting families to manage conflict or parenting post separation.

About the role

As the Parent Coordinator/Counsellor you will facilitate the Mums and Dads Forever group program, ensure the provision of professional intake, assessment and referral services as well as brief counselling sessions for separated parents and their children. You will join a passionate multidisciplinary team of like-minded professionals that focuses on providing person-centred, strengths- based, trauma-informed and child-focused support.

This role is a part time role on a fixed term contract basis until June 2024, working 3 days per week based in Gosnells. There is a requirement to work one evening per week. 

About you

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in social work, psychology, counselling or other related field
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and substantial experience in counselling and  facilitating therapeutic and psycho- educational group work
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of family systems theory and  well as current trends in family counselling
  • Knowledge of the impact of parental separation on children including an understanding of how conflict affects children
  • Experience in and ability to provide intake and assessments with families
  • Knowledge of issues related to family violence with a particular emphasis on how this affects children would also be an advantage
  • Ability to articulate and reflect upon personal and professional practice

Remuneration

  • $76,470-$78,108 full time salary range per annum pro rata + 9.5% superannuation
  • In addition to your remuneration, you will enjoy generous tax-free salary packaging benefits where you can package up to $15,900 per annum and not pay tax on that amount

A  current National Police Clearance valid within one year, a WA Working with Children check and a WA Drivers Licence is a must have requirement of the position.
