This is an exciting opportunity to join our People & Culture team. Reporting to and mentored by the People & Culture Lead, the People and Culture Advisor will be responsible for supporting the smooth running of the P&C Function as part of a high performing, small team. This busy, fast paced and interesting generalist role will include fortnightly payroll processing for approx 80 staff, HR administration, a range of generalist support including recruitment, HR systems and HR process and support on a number of project-based People & Culture initiatives. The role will be accountable for guiding best practice recruitment and induction for the organisation, ensuring that AI Australia continues to attract and employ talented and committed individuals.

This role is ideally suited to a payroll and HR Administration professional who is keen to grow and make the role their own, while developing their career within a values based not for profit organisation. Our ideal candidate will be a trusted advisor, and relish offering valued HR support to the organisation, and enjoy working on a variety of tasks at a fast pace.

The salary for this position is $70,237 per annum ($45.02 per hour) plus 10.5% super and salary packaging.

You will:

  • Prepare and run the fortnightly pay cycle including the payroll administration of AIA’s salary packaging arrangements.
  • Provide timely and accurate support for managers and employees with HR and payroll requests including the management of the Human Resources and Payroll inbox.
  • Provide high quality and consistent policy, procedure, and EBA interpretation to managers and employees.
  • Monitoring compliance of HR records and activities, and compliance with policy and procedures.
  • Support with WH&S activities including incident reporting, investigations, risk assessments and consultation.
  • Administer employment contracts, variations and maintain all associated documentation within the employee lifecycle and employee files.
  • Administering the HRIS (ELMO) and tracking and monitoring various HR activities, including onboarding/offboarding, probation, recruitment, L&D, employee changes.
  • Managing the end-to-end recruitment process, including writing job ads, sourcing and shortlisting candidates, scheduling and conducting interviews, creating employment contracts, coordinating the new employee onboarding process.
  • Supporting key People & Culture, and Diversity, Inclusion and wellbeing projects.
  • Using your out of the box thinking skills, provide suggestions for continuous improvement.
  • Administering and improving AIA’s HR systems and databases.

You will have:

  • Demonstrated experience processing payroll, including setting up new employees in payroll, processing terminations, with experience in salary packaging highly regarded.
  • Excellent attention to detail, and high level of accuracy in data entry.
  • Highly organised including proven ability to prioritise and meet deadlines in a fast-paced busy role.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with a demonstrated confidence to manage correspondence to a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Tertiary qualifications in HR Management, and/or 1-3 years equivalent work experience in a similar role.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage ambiguity, problem solve and take responsible initiative.
  • Interpersonal skills that demonstrate an ability to build, develop and maintain positive professional relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to the highest ethical standards.
  • A proactive flexible ‘can-do’ approach to work both collaboratively with a close knit team and as well as autonomously with limited direction where required.
