Ambulance Victoria (AV) has an exciting opportunity to join the Wellbeing & Support Services (WSS) team within the People and Culture division. We are now welcoming applications for the full-time, permanent position of Lead Pastoral Care located at our Headquarters in Doncaster.
Initially working remotely until health restrictions ease, the Lead Pastoral Care will be responsible for the coordination of the pastoral care/chaplaincy program through managing a team of chaplains. This incorporates engagement with all policies, procedures and legislation relevant to WSS core business. The role’s purpose is to ensure the program is appropriately resourced and accessible to AV employees, first responders and their families who may be dealing with personal issues and who may need to access faith-based, spiritual, pastoral care or welfare services in the broader community.
The focus of the role is to ensure that advice on the pastoral care factors of spirituality and religion, culture and faith are relevant to AV staff and first responders and ensure that training and support for the pastoral care team is coordinated across the AV volunteer pastoral care and chaplaincy services state-wide.
This is a position where you will draw on your people leadership, project management and contract administration skillset. While you will come from a chaplaincy background and be adept at handling sensitive matters confidentially, it will suit someone seeking to lead chaplains rather than holding a chaplaincy position.
Reporting to the Senior Manager Peer & Pastoral Care, the responsibilities of this position will include, but are not limited to:
Bringing your experience in training and in delivering presentations, you will also have management experience in social work, counselling, ministry and/or pastoral care, chaplaincy and/or other wellbeing support services. This experience may have been gained in emergency or health services or a defence environment where you may have had exposure to trauma support, bereavement care, counselling or clinical pastoral education.
The successful candidate will have a nationally recognised qualification in social work, counselling or an accredited theological college and/or university, or ordination for ministry from within a denomination having official status with the National Council of Churches and / or the Ecumenical and Interfaith Commission in Victoria.
As a valued member of AV you will enjoy a professional working environment that recognises the importance of work/life balance. We offer salary packaging options, generous personal leave entitlements and accrued days off for full time roles.
We believe our people are our greatest resource and the sustainability of our workforce depends on how well we utilise our people’s skills and abilities and whether our staffing reflects the diversity of the Victorian community. If you’re ready to play an integral role and deliver results that help make a real difference, we want to hear from you!
The successful candidate must have a current Victorian Driver's License and be willing to travel throughout metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria when required. Successful applicants will also need to complete pre-employment checks including a Police Check.
AV has introduced salary bands and this position is graded at AV5. The AV grade salary range for an AV5 position is $119,839 to $141,669 plus 10% superannuation and CAA on-call allowance. The expectation is that employees will commence at the base of the grade applicable to a position.
Applicants are requested to address the three bullet points in the “Qualification” section of the selection criteria detailed in the position description, and to read the document ‘Applying for a position with Ambulance Victoria’ on our Careers page.
