Formed in 1983, Alzheimer's Association Queensland (AAQ) is one of Queensland's leading not-for-profit organisations helping maintain the quality of life for the frail aged and people diagnosed with dementia. We currently have over 400 specialist staff at AAQ and continuously growing.

Our residential services aim to optimise health and provide high quality care for older people, people approaching frailty and people with dementia. Career Opportunity

Leading an experienced and dedicated team at our residential facility located within inner Brisbane Queensland, you will have full ownership to oversee the operations of the facility. This includes instilling a high awareness culture to ensure our residents receive the highest class of respectful care.

This open plan facility allows ease of physical and visual access to optimise everyday living experiences, promoting independence and mirroring home life.

As the Director of Care, you will be reporting to the CEO and be well supported by the other AQ senior managers.

Your primary focus will be to lead the residential care and clinical care teams including business and workforce planning and systems to ensure effective service delivery and quality of care. This includes overseeing the facility operations in all matters relating to standard of care, legislative requirements, staffing, finances, accreditation and business operations.

Requirements for Success

  • Post graduate level qualification in health management, business or related field (a Registered Nurse with unrestricted AHPRA registration is essential)
  • Significant senior management experience in aged care or related residential clinical care management
  • Strong track record in leading resident-centred, quality and compliant services to improve the well-being of the frail aged
  • A track record in innovation, service design and improvement and leading change
  • Demonstrated ability to lead business and resource planning and deliver outcomes on time and within budget
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills and experience, together with the ability to advocate and influence stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes
  • Experience in people management, coaching, mentoring and professional development of others
  • Understanding of the ACFI process, the Single Quality Framework and Quality & Accreditation standards
