Who we are

The Foundation for National Parks & Wildlife is Australia’s foremost philanthropic partner for national parks, especially in relation to acquiring land to add to the public national parks estate. Since 1970, the Foundation has funded on-ground projects to benefit the conservation and appreciation of Australia’s national parks and wildlife. The Foundation is governed by a Board of Directors and is an independent, non government charity. The Foundation supports projects that include:

  • Land conservation of national parks and other high value conservation lands
  • Wildlife research and threatened species recovery
  • Cultural heritage conservation in parks for Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal sites
  • Environmental education, interpretation and awareness-raising for schools and the wider community

The Foundation is a national organisation. In NSW, it works in partnership with the NSW National Parks & Wildlife Service, and other state agencies, researchers and conservation groups responsible for national parks and wildlife conservation.

The job

The Foundation is offering a rare opportunity to join their team as Bushfire Recovery Project Manager, to lead a new project, designed to develop the initial stages of a bushfire recovery Nursery project. This will include liaison with key stakeholders across NSW, Victoria, QLD and SA, the successful delivery of a 3-year business plan, and leading communications for the first 12 months of the project.

You will be responsible for developing and delivering a project business plan to align with FNPW and partner and funding requirements, for the delivery of a range of project activities. This will include reporting, assisting with the coordination of grant reports and audits, and liaising with sponsors and partners to ensure audits and reporting are conducted in line with requirements.

You’ll have responsibility for ensuring the efficient and timely management of all administrative tasks that support any grant rounds developed for the project and develop all reports, grant application processes and supporting documentation for existing grant rounds.

The Foundation needs you to run the project, show your natural flair for fostering strong relationships, and collaborate generously and effectively with a range of stakeholder partners.

Who you are

You are an outstanding communicator with first-class administration skills, who will relish the challenge of delivering a complex project with a wide range of stakeholders. You will have experience with project and budget management systems, including managing and reporting on government grants and partnership agreements. You’ll carry intelligence, positivity and integrity in roughly equal measure and be blessed with strong communication skills and a passion for the environment.

Your location is secondary to your ability to make things happen. Some interstate travel should be expected, subject to current restrictions.

So, what’s in it for you?

This is a fulltime role, offered over a fixed-term of 12 months, with some flexibility in hours to suit your needs, a salary that genuinely reflects your experience and skills and the chance to join a progressive, successful not-for-profit who are making a profound difference to Australia’s national parks and to the protection and conservation of our native habitat and species.
