The Alluvium Group
The Alluvium Group brings together four organisations who share a common purpose: to make a difference to the world we live in.
Our four businesses share a collective vision, strategy and a commitment to client service. Our business model is unique and driven by a genuine belief that a focus on technical depth and excellence better serves our clients.
We work together when it adds value, for instance jointly investing in the Group’s R&D program to give back to the industry and to ensure that the latest science has a path to implementation.
As a group we are focussed on an enabling culture in order to remove barriers to creativity and encourage people to develop as leaders throughout our industry.
The strength of our group is embedded in the independent business decision making of our company boards and leadership, and the ability of each entity to focus on delivering exceptional work for our clients.

Your fit
- You will have an industry profile and presence. Ideally you are already driven to help lead and influence natural resource management outcomes in Queensland and are committed to supporting better outcomes for the broader community.
- You need to bring a long-term and strategic perspective in the work you do. Our work does make a positive difference, but it can take time and our senior staff need to be able to see the bigger picture.
- You need to be good with people. We don’t have layers of management making decisions; our business works by engaging with staff to collectively solve problems and advance issues. Strong interpersonal skills are required and an ability to effectively manage up and with your peers is important.
- You will understand or be willing to develop insights into how consulting in a natural resource context works. This will include a passion for ‘getting your hands dirty’ and building great relationships with clients.
- You will need strong project management skills and an understanding of the balance between maintaining client relationships and delivery.
Role Context
Our natural resources continue to experience many pressures associated with climate change, population growth, and sometimes competing values. We are nationally recognised for our comprehensive knowledge and experience across a range of natural resource policy, planning and management contexts, and proactively apply this knowledge to influence holistic and adaptive outcomes for our clients, the environment and the communities who depend on them.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Supporting the development of enhanced natural resource management outcomes, programs and projects for catchments and river basins, waterways, specifically in the Great Barrier Reef catchment by contributing to data analysis, strategic planning and management, communication and engagement, and reporting across a range of socio-economic and biophysical aspects
- Supporting the development of genuine participatory and collaborative processes, and science communication for catchment and natural resource-related issues, including with First Nations People
- Supporting the development of effective and engaging project reports and communication materials
- Providing project management and coordination.
Key Skills and experience required:
- 5-12 years experience working in natural resource, catchment or related fields, including experience across one or more of the following: communication and engagement, program evaluation, catchment management, surface- and/or ground water quality monitoring and management, surface- and/or ground water resource planning and management, GBR management, water quality, hydrology, aquatic ecology; natural resource management and policy development at local, state or Federal levels.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Great Barrier Reef management context and natural resource management planning principles.
- Experience in reviewing and analysing data across a range of disciplines and topics including but not limited to the Great Barrier Reef and NRM-related governance, policy and regulation, best management practices, water quality improvement, and extension and capacity building.
- Experience in designing and implementing communication and stakeholder engagement processes and related materials. Experience with working directly with Traditional Owners and other First Nations Peoples in Queensland would be an advantage.
- Knowledge of, and/or experience working within the policy and legislative frameworks of Queensland that pertain to natural resource management, particularly the management of water quality or quantity and the GBR is highly desirable.
- Experience contributing to effective project management and working in multi-disciplinary project teams.
- A tertiary qualification in a natural resource management or related field.
