Alfred Health is a leader in health care delivery, improvement, research and education. We are the main provider of health services to people living in the inner southeast suburbs of Melbourne, from ambulatory to inpatient and home and community-based services.
Are you a young person with a lived and/or living experience of mental health challenges? Join the Youth Program Team at Alfred CYMHS to act as a recovery champion for young people.
Alfred Child & Youth Mental Health Service (CYMHS) is one component of the Department of Mental & Addiction Health at Alfred Health. We are a community-based service providing comprehensive assessment, treatment and case management to infants, children, adolescents and young people up to the age of 25 years of age presenting with behavioural, emotional, psychiatric or developmental difficulties. CYMHS provides clinical services in partnership with a wide range of service providers to achieve the best possible outcomes. Alfred CYMHS is committed to active participation by families and young people in evaluating and improving our services.
CY HOPE is a program within CYMHS that supports children and young people at a risk of suicide. The program provides rapid and intensive form of support to the young person as well as their support networks through prevention and intervention.
As a Youth Peer Support Worker, you will draw from your own lived and/or living experience of mental health challenges to act as a recovery champion within the Alfred Health Youth Program team, specifically working alongside the Child & Youth HOPE program. In this role, you will be responsible for providing one-to-one support to young people. Please note this is not a clinical role.
As a Youth Peer Support worker, you will also work with and alongside the HOPE clinicians. Whilst Youth Peer Support Workers are not clinicians, they are as much a valued part of our team. Our Youth Peer Workers have a key responsibility to help inform our service design and delivery. In this context, sharing insights that are drawn from your own lived experience may be really important in enabling another staff member or team to develop an understanding of a person's experiences, or how we may be working and the potential impact of this on a young person's experience.
