Alfred CYMHS provides clinical services and supports an integrated system of care across a wide platform of service providers to achieve the best possible outcomes for children, young people, and their families. Active participation by families and young people in designing, evaluating and improving services is integral to specialist mental health service provision. Direct services are offered along with consultation and system integration to achieve the best outcomes.
This new Community Youth Forensic Mental Health Service will support the work of key agencies to deliver more effective services youth with mental health conditions and who at risk of or who are engaged in offending behaviours.
The Forensic Specialist Mental Health Clinician - Youth will support an integrated intake process within Alfred Health CYMHS and headspace programs along with providing specialist support advice and direction to other services in the south of Victoria. Specialist consultation, support, and assistance will be provided to enhance an integrated system and service response. A key emphasis will be to support the skill development of clinicians and workers to expand capacity to intervene early and prevent escalation of offending behaviours. This may occur through service development, education, and/or primary and secondary consultation.
