Alfred Mental & Addiction Health is responsible for the operation of services, which focus on people with a severe mental illness residing in the Inner South Eastern area of Melbourne.

The single most important goal of Alfred Mental & Addiction Health is to create an environment that facilitates clinical recovery, supports individual recovery efforts and strives to minimise service system barriers to the recovery process.

What you’ll be doing

In this role, you will be responsible for the clinical and professional services provided by Allied Health staff operating within the Adult Inpatient Units as well as operational oversight of in-pt staff. This includes the coordination of the delivery of therapies and interventions across allied health disciplines to ensure multidisciplinary skills are accessible to our consumers and carers.

You will work with the Acute Inpatient Leadership Team and Deputy Director of Operations Social Health and Wellbeing to ensure the implementation of a range of individual and group therapies and interventions are available to complement the nursing and medical practice within the acute inpatient stream.

The Allied Health Principal will provide clinical oversight including clinical practice standards in the in-pat units and work with the Allied Health Clinical Lead for Consultation Liaison & Emergency Services who will lead discipline specific work in these teams.

About you

  • Post graduate qualifications and registration with relevant professional body (AHPRA - Occupational Therapy Board or AASW)
  • Minimum of ten years post graduate clinical experience (desirable)
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation such as The Mental Health Act 2022 and The Children, Youth and Families Act incorporating the child information sharing scheme and any other relevant legislation
  • Current Victorian Driver's License and Working with Children Check
