Aitken College is a co-educational, independent school in association with the Uniting Church, offering Prep to Year 12 education, growing to more than 1400 students and located on 18 hectares in Greenvale.

Aitken College seeks to appoint a full-time Student Counsellor with a track record of excellence in supporting student welfare. The Student Counsellor works closely with the Head of Wellbeing to provide counselling and guidance to students.

This position commences on 4 October 2021.

  • All applicants must have a Bachelor qualification or specialist qualification in one of the following fields: Psychology/ social work/ Nursing with Mental Health specialisation/ counselling and a
  • Working with Children Clearance.

Knowledge:

  • Must have knowledge of and experience in delivering therapeutic interventions such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy.
  • Must have experience in working with children, adolescents and their families, ideally in an educational setting.
  • Case note skills and well developed oral communication skills.
  • Commitment to and knowledge of mandatory reporting and child safe. standards.
  • An ability to exercise a high degree of confidentiality and ethical conduct.
  • An ability to work well in a team.
  • Proficiency in using IT systems.
