Substance Treatment & Recovery (STAR) - North West metro catchment, Victoria, is seeking a Care & Recovery Coordination Worker to add to its clinical team.

About STAR

STAR is a joint program of The Salvation Army’s Adult Services Network (ASN) and VincentCare Victoria (VCV), and is contracted to provide Alcohol & Other Drug (AOD) treatment services, delivering Counselling and Care & Recovery Coordination services in the Inner North and North West catchment areas of metropolitan Melbourne.

STAR clinical staff deliver evidence-based services to eligible clients of the service, referred through voluntary and forensically-mandated pathways. All clinical staff should be able to demonstrate intervention skills such as history-taking, case formulation, planning, delivery and evaluation; and will provide, as demand dictates, other associated services, such as

  • Brief interventions and AOD screening to persons presenting in need, who may not necessarily be clients of the program,
  • Bridging support to clients waiting to enter the service, and
  • Referral to specific agencies, advocacy, and post-treatment follow up.

The Role

The Salvation Army is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Care & Recovery Coordination (CRC) worker to provide services primarily in the North West catchment (LGAs of Hume, Brimbank, Maribyrnong, and Melton). STAR North West is based at offices in Glenroy as part of the Northern Community Hub, and staff work in a multidisciplinary environment in a modern, well-resourced office space. This position may provide services from other STAR locations across the catchment.

The CRC worker focuses on:

  • Engagement of clients with multiple complexities and assistance into and through the drug treatment pathway,
  • Leading care coordination or provide support where the person has existing care coordination,
  • Providing information, advice and brief interventions such as motivational interviewing and relapse prevention strategies to clients,
  • Facilitating access to other health and human services support that the client may require,
  • Creating and sustaining strong interagency connections (for example, Aboriginal Community-Controlled Health Organisations, housing and homelessness support agencies, prescribing GPs, dispensing pharmacies, child protection, family services, debt/financial counselling, employment services, and community health services),
  • Provide therapeutic and psycho-educational group work.

From July 2017, clinicians, including this role, will also provide assessment, as per changes to the Victorian funded AOD service system.

The position is full time (76 hours / fortnight).

Remuneration

Pay range: $65,745 to $69,037 - As determined within the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010 and the National Employment Standards, Social Stream Level 5, pay point to be determined on experience.

This position can also access generous salary packaging arrangements.
