Purpose of the role

The purpose of the Safety and Wellbeing Coordinator will be working proactively and collaboratively plan, implement and maintain Health, Safety and Wellbeing Programs to minimise risks, ensuring that the Work Health and Safety Management System is maintained in compliance with legislation, codes of practice and industry standards.

Achieve has been providing services to people with disability since the 1950s. Today, we are a registered NDIS provider offering integrated clinical, health, social and disability services in accommodation, community participation, supported employment and support coordination services in the Greater Sydney and in Northern Rivers regions in NSW.

About the role

  • Undertake regular site visits to conduct audits, inspections and observations to ensure sites are meeting the requirements of WHS legislation and company policies and procedures.
  • Assist with WHS improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinate rehabilitation and return to work programs in conjunction with site managers and HR Business Partners.
  • Provide support to sites in the risk management of hazards and implementing control measures.
  • Support workers compensation claims, stakeholders and outcomes.
  • Review, update and monitor the Achieve Australia WHS, RTW, IM and Workers Compensation policies procedures and practices
  • Assist the organisation to develop tools for hazard identification, investigation and risk management.
  • Carry out audits to evaluate the effectiveness of Work Health and Safety Management Systems and procedures and identify and implement improvements.
  • Coordinate Health and Wellbeing programs and initiatives, including supporting and promoting Employee Assistance Provider (EAP) services.
  • Keep up-to-date knowledge and understanding of the common and unique requirements and challenges across all business units.
  • Support the Safety and Wellbeing Manager.

About you

We are looking for WHS professionals with the following qualifications, skills and experience.

Essential skills, experience and qualifications

  • Certificate IV or Diploma in WHS.
  • Demonstrated experience in injury management and return to work coordination.
  • Experience in hazard identification, incident investigation and risk management.
  • Sound knowledge in the application of SafeWork Australia and SafeWork NSW WHS legislation, codes of practice and standards.
  • Well-developed skills in Microsoft Office 365.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Desirable skills and experience

  • Demonstrated experience in coordinating WHS, injury management and health and wellbeing programs in the Disability, Aged Care or Healthcare sectors.
  • Agile, adaptable to change and resilience.
  • Experience in the use of injury management databases, eg: Solv, etc.
