About the Role

The National Panel Officer will be responsible for conducting disability assessments in a dedicated region under the National Panel of Assessors contract. The assessments determine appropriate levels of service and support for DES providers, participants and/or employers, and include Ongoing Support Assessments (OSA), Support Wage Scheme (SWS) assessments and Workplace Modification Scheme (WMS) assessments.

The National Panel Officer will work to ensure assessments are conducted and submitted accurately and within required timeframes, with the overall aim of enhancing employment opportunities, participation in the workforce, and assisting with maintaining employment for people with a disability.

  • Conduct Ongoing Support Assessments (OSA) and Support Wage Assessments (SWS) on behalf of SSI onsite with DES providers, participants/client, employers, and worksites.
  • Conduct Ongoing Support Assessments (OSA) to review and ascertain the level of ongoing support required by DES participants to carry out a role once employed and to successfully maintain employment.
  • Conduct Support Wage Assessments (SWS) in conjunction with all parties such as the person with a disability, employers, and DES providers to ascertain level of income support for employees with a disability who are not able to perform jobs at full award wages because of a disability; compile assessments and lodge with the relevant body for approval.
  • Conduct Workforce Modification Scheme (WMS) assessments on behalf of SSI to determine a suitable match between the participant, their job, and workplace modification.
  • Gather information for assessments onsite directly with participants, employers, and DES providers, as and when required.
  • Ensure all Assessments are completed accurately, withing expected timeframes, and submitted to the relevant authorising bodies or parties involved for review and approval.
  • Other duties as directed from time to time within your skills range and capacity.

Selection Criteria

  • Diploma or higher level qualification in an allied health field such as Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Exercise Physiology, Psychology, Rehabilitation Counselling, Vocational Training or other relevant field
  • Minimum of two years of practical experience in disability employment or related field
  • High level customer centric approach and the ability to achieve quality and accuracy in service standards, KPIs, and targets
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact with a wide cross section of stakeholders
  • Outstanding attention to detail and accuracy in administrative tasks and reporting
  • High level problem solving skills and report writing skills
  • Strong relationship building skills and the ability to build rapport quickly
  • Previous experience in a similar role within the Disability Employment Services sector or in an Assessor role in Australia is DESIRABLE
