Under the direct supervision of the Resettlement and Complementary Pathways Officer, the Protection and Solutions Contractor will:
- Conduct registration interviews in order to register refugees and asylum-seekers in proGres (UNHCR’s registration database)
- Update proGres and other case tracking tools as needed, to record resettlement country decisions, departures, and other case updates
- Produce monthly statistical reports on the situation of individuals subject to Australia’s offshore transfer policy
- Compile and upload resettlement statistical reports on submissions and departures into UNHCR’s global system (the RSR) for all countries under MCO’s coverage, as required and in collaboration with relevant colleagues
- Assist in reviewing and documenting data management procedures, ensuring that written guidance is available for all procedures in place
- Contact refugees and asylum-seekers subject to offshore processing to assist them to complete Expressions of Interest (EOI) in New Zealand as needed, provide them with information on the New Zealand process and ensure that they are informed on the voluntariness of participation in the resettlement process, and to schedule them for resettlement interviews.
- Conduct resettlement interviews and draft resettlement referrals (RRFs), responding to any requests for clarifications in a timely manner
- Conduct verification interviews and counselling with applicants, including family composition verification and declaration page counselling
- Assist with New Zealand selection missions as needed, including pre-interview counselling and scheduling of applicants
- Undertake support missions if needed to assist with interviews and the preparation of assessment
- Support with resettlement procedures for refugees in areas under MCO Canberra’s coverage who are not subject to Australia’s offshore processing policy (i.e. refugees in other areas of the Pacific), if required.

Minimum Requirements:
- Two years of relevant experience with High School diploma, or one year relevant work experience with Bachelor or equivalent or higher.
Desired Candidate profile
- Bachelor’s degree in law, international relations, social science, statistics, information technology, or another relevant field.
- Prior experience with UNHCR (or other organisations working with refugees and asylum-seeker) is strongly preferred, including in resettlement processing and/or data management.
- Understanding of the context affecting refugees and asylum-seekers subject to Australia’s offshore transfer policy, and experience working directly with individuals impacted by this policy.
- Understanding of the international legal framework applicable to refugees, as well as UNHCR’s resettlement guidelines.
- Strong drafting and data management skills and familiarity with UNHCR’s resettlement guidelines.
- Fluency in English.
