ANZUP Cancer Trials Group is looking for an experienced and collaborative Marketing and Communications Officer to join it's small, vibrant and hard working team.

About ANZUP

ANZUP is The Australian and New Zealand Urogenital and Prostate (ANZUP) Cancer Trials Group and was established in 2008 with a mission to conduct high-quality clinical research to improve outcomes for people living with ‘below the belt’ (testicular, prostate, bladder, penile and kidney) cancers.

ANZUP is a not for profit cancer research charity with over 1,500 members from a multi-disciplinary network of medical, surgical, radiation oncologists, nurses, psychologists and allied health professionals dedicated to improving patient outcomes for 27,000 Australian men and women diagnosed with ‘below the belt’ cancers each year. There are approximately 160 cancer centres and hospitals around the world running ANZUP trials, with 10 ANZUP trials currently open to recruitment.

Core Focus

Reporting to the Marketing and Communications Manager and Internal Communications Manager, the Marketing and Communications Officer will play a vital role in the implementation and roll out of the organisation’s marketing and communications to achieve the organisation’s mission against its strategic plan. They will also be responsible for assisting with the successful execution of key events and meetings, to ensure they are delivered in a timely and cost effective manner.

Key Responsibilities

Marketing and Communications

  • Support in the production and review of ANZUP member newsletter (UPdate) and consumer magazine (A little below the belt)
  • Maintain and update the ANZUP website
  • Support with the distribution of routine e-communications to members
  • Support with maintaining and updating ClinTrials App
  • Support in writing, preparation and distribution of fundraising e-communications
  • Support in maintaining and updating fundraising website and platform
  • Maintain and update ANZUP website fundraising pages
  • Support in the development of updates for and communications of social media (e.g. twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram)
  • Work with external suppliers to prepare event collateral and materials

Fundraising

  • Assist with the Below the Belt Pedalthon strategy development, implementation and roll out
  • Work with stakeholders from ANZUP’s charity bike ride, Below the Belt Pedalthon, including riders, sponsors, race director, venues and donors
  • Work closely with fundraising platforms and suppliers to maximise the best outcomes
  • Provide administrative support and ensure a quality supporter experience to the riders / fundraisers

Events and Meetings

  • Work with the Marketing and Communications Manager to deliver the Below the Belt Pedalthon events
  • Provide event management support for the Annual Scientific Meeting
  • Provide support for other key ANZUP events and meetings
  • Support other ANZUP activities as directed by the CEO

Database

  • Working with the Database Coordinator to maintain eTapestry database, ensuring correct segmentation and correct profiles are in use
  • Ensure all fundraising activities and individuals are tracked in the organisation’s database

Other

Experience / training / qualifications required

  • 3 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Demonstrated computing skills including database and excel analysis and reporting
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills and the ability to build working relationships with a range of stakeholders
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to develop strong working relationships with a range of stakeholders
  • Strong organisational, administrative and time management skills with demonstrated flexibility to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines.
  • Self-motivated and outcome focused, with the ability to work both within a team environment and autonomously
  • Superior attention to detail, while demonstrating creative flair and judgement
  • High degree of computer literacy – Microsoft Office (Word, Excel & PowerPoint)
  • Positive, engaging and approachable attitude
  • Strong client-service focus and commitment
  • Desired knowledge and understanding of information technologies and their practical applications, including CRM/CMS systems and online fundraising platforms including eDM platforms.
  • Understanding of the not-for-profit sector
  • Ability to work occasional weekends or outside of hours e.g. Pedalthon events and Annual Scientific Meeting
