ABOUT the Industrial Officer Role

As an Industrial Officer you will report to the Senior Industrial Officer and work alongside a team of Industrial Officers. You will lead a team of people, mostly Organisers, with whom you will be supporting our membership.

  • Represent the industrial and professional interests of members including preparing matters for hearing before the Fair Work Commission or other applicable tribunals.
  • Lead and inspire a group of Organisers and provide industrial advice and assistance to Branch management, staff and members
  • Work collaboratively with branch staff to protect and improve members’ employment conditions through the provision of high-quality advocacy and collective campaigns.
  • Negotiate important industrial and professional matters including Enterprise Bargaining.

Key selection criteria:

  • Demonstrated experience in negotiating enterprise agreements and advocating for improved member working conditions.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing for and presenting matters in various tribunals including Fair Work.
  • Demonstrated success leading a team.
  • Commitment to organising and leading campaigning and growing strength within workplaces.
  • Commitment to achieving outcomes for members, fairness and justice.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively to achieve a common interest.
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • A demonstrated commitment to Trade Union movement.

  • Annual salary of $137,917 per year plus 15% Super
