The Finance Assistant (Payroll) role will achieve the following outcomes:
- Prepare and process payroll run each fortnight, including benefits and taxes consistent with ATO statutory requirements.
- Prepare and process payroll for casual staff including Sessional Teachers from timesheets in a timely manner.
- Ensure the processing of new hires, temporary workers, transfers, promotions and terminations is accurate and timely.
- Understand and adhere to proper taxation of employer paid benefits and deductions
- Prepare monthly / fortnightly HR reports, payroll reports, sick leave/annual leave spreadsheet for management and other additional reports as required.
- Prepare variance report for each pay run and supporting documentation as required by management including Annual Leave / Sick Leave balance report.
- Ensure Annual Leave / Sick Leave is not applied in arrears unless approved by Secretary/HR.
- Continually review and analyse current payroll, benefits and tax procedures in order to recommend and implement changes leading to best-practice operations.
Key Selection Criteria
- Tertiary qualifications in Finance, Accounting or Payroll administration
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in Payroll Processing and reporting including EBA benefits, allowances, deductions, awards, tax, payroll tax
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in Payroll software – processes, reporting, setups, Summary and year end reporting to ATO
- Autonomous and strong knowledge of federal and state regulations and full understanding of PAYG tax and salary packaging / adjustments
- Sound knowledge of Payroll tax and other payroll statutory reporting requirements
Remuneration
Annual salary of $ $78,129 per annum plus 15% Super.
