The Australian Manufacturing Workers’ Union (AMWU) is a progressive, worker led organisation that aims to build workers’ power and organise workers to win. We are seeking to employ a Payroll/Accounts Clerk in the Union’s National Office located in Granville.
The position will be full-time for a three month fixed term with a view to permanency.
The successful application will be responsible for ensuring the accurate processing of the Union’s fortnightly, timesheet-based payroll within strict timeframes, but also be a self-motivated team player as a part of the wider Finance team.
Key Duties
- Process all aspects of the payroll function, including wages, PAYG, union fees, payroll tax, WorkCover, child support, long service leave, income and severance and superannuation
- Entry/Upload and reconciliation of payroll information into accounting software
- Record keeping
- Payroll queries, adjustments and terminations
- Month-end reporting
- Other ad-hoc duties as directed by the Finance team
Skills & Experience
- Preceda experience is essential
- Minimum 3-5 years payroll experience
- High level of computer literacy, MS Office programs and accounts payable systems
- Understanding of tax law and taxing legislation
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with a customer service focus
- The ability to adapt to a fast paced and changing environment
- Work actively in the team to enhance team performance
- Maintain strong key relationships with the staff engagement teams
- Monitor and ensure that quality standards are met
- Identifying problems and improvements in processes and procedures
