About us

We are the Australian Institute of Family Studies (AIFS), the Australian Government’s key independent research body and advisor in the area of family wellbeing. We produce research about ‘what works for families’ and make it accessible to decision makers, practitioners and the general public.

Our team

The Longitudinal Studies program area specialises in the design, implementation and management of large-scale longitudinal research projects. These projects generate important insights to help understand family life, developmental trajectories, relationships and wellbeing.

The Longitudinal Study of Australian Children (LSAC) project team are responsible for the end-to-end management of LSAC including methodology and content development, respondent engagement, fieldwork supervision, data management and linkage, data analysis and preparation of study outputs.

Requirements

Research Fellows play a vital role in helping AIFS deliver its research projects. The main purpose of this role is to:

  • Development of research agenda for LSAC
  • Initiation and implementation of research projects in collaboration with other subject matter experts and data analysts
  • Analysis of longitudinal survey data and administrative data
  • Preparation of written materials for a variety of stakeholders (academics, government officials, policy makers, etc.)
  • Development of presentations for relevant workshops, conferences and seminars.

Terms

The Research Fellow position is an ongoing role, on a full-time or part-time (0.6 FTE minimum) basis. The salary range is AIFS EL1 $108,357 - $119,661 (depending on the skills and experience of the successful applicant) plus 15.4% superannuation.
