Aboriginal Family Legal Services Western Australian Family Violence Prevention Legal Service Aboriginal Corporation ICN 7333 Trading as the Aboriginal Family Legal Services (WA) aims to provide free, culturally secure, legal and support services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander victims and survivors of family violence and/or sexual assault.

We are seeking a Social/Digital Media Officer to work at our Boorloo (Perth) office in Rivervale on a Part-Time basis. The role is responsible for actioning AFLS’s digital media operations, including:

  • Developing and curating engaging content for social media platforms
  • Assisting in the creation and editing of written, video and photo content
  • Ensuring content aligns with the AFLS organisational guidelines
  • Interacting with users and responding to social media messages and inquires
  • Managing the AFLS webpage.

The role will play a fundamental part in connecting AFLS to the various communities in which it operates across Western Australia. The role will work closely with the media lead to deliver content which provides information about AFLS services generally, social campaigns, and other relevant topics.

SELECTION CRITERIA

To be considered for this position you will have the following:

ESSENTIAL

  • An undergraduate degree or working towards an undergraduate degree in social/digital media or a related area
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn
  • Experience in creation and editing of written, video and photo content
  • Strong writing skills and experience in creating and scheduling engaging content
  • Experience in reporting on and analysis of digital campaigns
  • Experience in contributing to the design and implementation of a social media plan
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills with the ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
  • Effective time management and planning skills
  • Understanding of Aboriginal culture
  • Understanding of Not-For-Profit organisations

DESIRABLE

  • Experience working in a Community Legal organisation
  • Experience working with Aboriginal people

ESSENTIAL ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Current ‘C’ class WA Driver’s License
  • Current Federal Police Clearance
  • Working with Children Check
  • Covid Vaccination Certificate

ADDITIONAL EXTRAS

  • 5 weeks annual leave (pro-rata)

The successful applicant will need to gain and demonstrate a broad general knowledge of AFLS and the suite of services that it delivers and the sites that it delivers from, as well as the ability to identify key personnel and have contact details available for all other AFLS sites.
