We’re looking for an experienced Team Leader for our Forensic Assessment and Counselling Team (FACT) program in metro Melbourne. You’ll be providing leadership to a team of Forensic AOD Clinicians delivering specialist forensic alcohol and other drug assessments and counselling focusing on assisting clients in contact with the justice system with their journey of recovery.

The program and the role

Our Assessment and Treatment Services stream provides assessment and/or treatment services to forensic clients with a history of drug and alcohol use, and/or mental health issues. Staff within this stream will work in a range of environments and locations including corrections facilities including prisons, Courts and ACSO office locations. The Forensic AOD team is part of a Metropolitan Victoria intake, assessment, counselling and referral service that administers both State funded and Commonwealth funded treatment pathways for clients in contact with, or at risk of coming into contact with the criminal justice system.

Success as a Team Leader requires you to have strong leadership qualities and a sound understanding of the program area. Reporting to the Program Manager, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day service delivery of FACT supervising a medium sized team to ensure quality client outcomes. This is a full-time position based from Richmond.

What we’re looking for?

  • Ethical, self-motivated and committed to helping others achieve their goals
  • A minimum diploma level qualification in Community Services, Mental Health or a similar field
  • Prior experience in a supervisory or leadership role
  • Knowledge of the challenges faced by those leaving the prison system, and an interest and willingness to work with those presenting with high risk offence histories
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Capable of establishing and maintaining clear professional boundaries
  • A strong sense of personal accountability and resilience
  • A valid Victorian Drivers' License and the ability to obtain a First Aid Certificate, Criminal Record and Working with Children Check
