About the role

Reporting to the Payroll Supervisor this position is responsible for the timely and accurate preparation and processing of payroll for the employees of ACSO (including associated entities). The position also includes the maintenance of personnel records and training of new employees in the "Employee Self Service" program - a web-based portal into the payroll system accessible by employees.

On a daily basis, the Payroll Officer will maintain the payroll information (including onboarding new employees) within the payroll system (Technology One) and the "Employee Self Service" portal. The Payroll Officer is responsible for timely and accurate preparation and processing of payroll, ensuring statutory and internal rules are followed. When not undertaking tasks directly relating to the role, the incumbent will be expected to carry out any other task or activity assigned to them by the Payroll Supervisor or manager that is within the reasonable expectation of the position.

What we're looking for

  • Relevant experience working as a Payroll Officer using computerised payroll systems preferably Technology One
  • Proven experience working with interpreting relevant Awards, Enterprise Agreements and legislative requirements
  • Demonstrated computer skills, including experience using the Microsoft Office suite of programs and the ability to rapidly acquire skills in the use of specialist or site business specific software/programs.
  • High level verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent time management skills in prioritising and planning workloads in order to meet strict deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage competing priorities, to operate with minimum supervision and show high level of initiative
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Advanced numeracy and data entry skills with a high level of attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality on payroll matters
  • Provide friendly customer service to all staff ensuring accurate and timely advice is given on payroll matters
  • Ensure best practise payroll process are undertaken in order to minimise errors.
