Who is the ACF?

When it comes to our environment, the Australian Conservation Foundation has been leading the way in protecting our living world for over half a century. We are the national environment organisation committed to caring for Australia’s unique and beautiful wildlife and natural world. We’re inclusive, non-partisan and funded by the Australian community. Whether it’s advocating for the Great Barrier Reef, koalas snoozing in big old trees or for strong climate action, our dedicated community of more than half a million people are constantly working to create a world where forests, rivers, people, and wildlife thrive.

What’s the gig?

As a Climate Campaigner – Methane and Fossil Fuels, you will hold a pivotal role in advocating for stronger environmental laws to reduce methane emissions from coal and gas facilities. Your work will involve influencing government policy, empowering communities, creating and running public campaign tactics and contributing to strategic campaign development focused on addressing climate change, methane pollution and stopping the expansion of the coal and gas sector. Collaboration with internal teams, government bodies, grassroots organisations, and the wider community is central to your success in this role. In particular, the Climate Campaigner will work closely with the Investigations team to capitalise on findings emerging from its methane casework.

About you!

You can speak the language of scientists and policy experts and translate that into compelling messages and policies for decision-makers, journalists and Australian community.

You’re an effective public advocate to deliver ACF’s climate and energy campaign and you have experience working in climate change, environmental or advocacy campaigning.

You’re a sharp, emotive and nuanced communicator with a knack for bringing campaign moments to life. You know how to inspire people through communications to overcome barriers to action and step up participation for impact. You possess technical proficiency in field monitoring and analysis and are interested in the utilization of MRV (Measurement, Reporting and Verification) technology to measure and assess methane emissions in the field for campaign advocacy.

Why work for us?

You’ll do important work with one of Australia’s most impactful organisations, and with our world-class organisational culture and great team, we guarantee you’ll have fun along the way.
