The Settlement Engagement and Transition Services (SETS) is a federally funded program assisting newly arrived refugee and migrant families and individuals to acquire knowledge, skills, strategies, and support networks that support integration and successful settlement into Australian communities. As part of SETS, the Step-by-Step program is a partnership between 54reasons, MercyCare and Edmund Ricem providing a suite of services to newly arrived families and individuals living in the North metropolitan region of Perth.
54 reasons is Australia's leading child rights organisation - no ordinary not-for-profit.
Proudly part of the Save the Children Australia Group and global movement, we're here to make sure that everyone understands their rights. So that children and young people have their rights met and thrive, in all their diversity.
We champion the children, young people and families we work with. We are inspired by the curiosity and creativity of children and motivated by the love of those who care for them.
With the child's voice at the centre, we provide quality services to children and their caregivers, advocating with them so that children develop, learn, and are connected, safe and confident. Our people are proudly local, reflective of the communities we serve - in every state and territory, and across regions, remote areas and capital cities.
In this part-time, maximum position (22.8 hours over 3 days a week, through to end of June 2024 with potential for extension), you'll provide specialised case management to women with children engaging in the Step-by-Step program to support them to acquire skills, knowledge, and confidence to reduce their social isolation. Additionally, you'll play an integral role in supporting mothers and their children attending our playgroup - It Takes a Village (ITaV). The position also assists clients to negotiate mainstream services, integrate into the broader community and support their children's learning and wellbeing.
