2015 Giving Report

As a social enterprise, EthicalJobs.com.au is committed to supporting Australian organisations that are working to make the world a more just, equitable and sustainable place.

We do this primarily by helping thousands of Australian NFPs, charities and social enterprises to find the very best staff and volunteers.

But we also make regular donations throughout the year to a handful of small community organisations that are 'working for a better world'.

As a result, by the end of 2015 we will have donated over $130,000 to 86 different Australian organisations since EthicalJobs.com.au was founded in 2009.

Giving in 2015

Since January, we've been choosing one NFP organisation every two months and inviting our amazing community of job-seekers – now 170,000 strong – to donate to them via the crowdfunding platform Chuffed.

And we committed to match every dollar donated by the EthicalJobs.com.au community, up to $10,000.

This initiative has effectively doubled our impact.

By the end of 2015, EthicalJobs.com.au will have donated a total of more than $47,000 to five different organisations working across a range of issues and geographic areas. That's well over double the amount we donated in 2014.

But what’s more exciting is that we were able to encourage our community to donate even more than this – by the year end, their total donations should sit at more than $70,000!

Added to our matching donations, that’s a total of $117,000 in donations that we will have been able to give together with our community this year.

Our recipients this year were:

  • Lock the Gate – a national coalition of people from across Australia uniting to protect land, water and communities from unsafe coal and gas mining.
  • ActionAid – a global movement of people working together to further human rights and defeat poverty for all. Our matched donations helped ActionAid deliver disaster relief in Nepal following the devastating earthquake earlier this year.
  • Refugee Advice and Casework Service (RACS) – a not-for-profit refugee legal service that provides advice and casework assistance to financially disadvantaged individuals seeking asylum both in the community and in detention.
  • ANTaR – an organisation that works to engage, educate and mobilise a broad community movement to advocate for justice, rights and respect for Australia's First Peoples. EthicalJobs.com.au's contribution helped ANTaR’s campaign to address the health crisis amongst Indigenous populations.
  • Fair Agenda – an independent campaigning organisation that brings Australians together in critical moments to drive change that promotes fairness and equality for women. Our donations are supporting Fair Agenda to lobby the federal government for increased funding for family violence services.

Making an even bigger difference in 2016

In 2016 we’re planning to continue to leverage our amazing community of job- seekers to again double the impact of our donations. With our first campaign launching in February, we’re also aiming to increase our own donations again – so 2016 should be another record year!
