About us

Zonta House Refuge Association (Zonta House) is a specialist provider of family and domestic violence (FDV) services. Our purpose, values and services have been informed through 40 years of experience, the needs of women in our community and research in leading practice.

Zonta House provides a suite of services for women experiencing FDV that reinforce one another and represent the core of Zonta House’s work. That is, when the voices of women are heard, our responses uphold dignity, builds on safety, and challenges the drivers of abuse. Victims/Survivors of FDV are able to access responsive and person-centred support based on their needs to build a future free from abuse.

About the role

This is a great opportunity for someone who likes variety, responsibility and a busy role! The Property Officer is responsible for the day to day operations of the identified Zonta House Women’s Refuge property portfolio. It includes the management of the assets and the clients tenancy. This part-time position will work 22.8 hours a week.

Key responsibilities include:

Property and Tenancy duties:

  • Conduct and record bi-annual property inspections. Including all furniture and items in the property owned by Zonta House
  • Ensure all properties are clean, safe and in working order according to the Zonta House and Department of Housing standards
  • Ensure safety device checks are conducted by a licensed electrician
  • Address disruptive behaviour as required
  • Obtain statements of income and set rent as per policy
  • Liaise with Team Leader Outreach and approved relevant contractors regarding the maintenance of properties
  • Work alongside Maintenance Person to ensure property maintenance is carried out in the agreed time frame, cost and consistent standard
  • Report to Social Worker interactions with clients regarding social issues of concern
  • Transport clients to the property after sign up and provide property induction
  • Support clients with ongoing tenancy management
  • Maintain working relationships Department of Housing

Administrative and Housekeeping Duties:

  • Provide weekly written and verbal reports as required
  • Accurately maintain property and tenancy database and ensure confidentiality of all records
  • Collect appropriate data and maintain computerised data collection systems
  • Maintain the annual register of planned works
  • Provide property and tenancy management reports and statistics as required
  • Promptly address non-payment of rent following Zonta House policies and procedures on collecting rental arrears
  • Monitor clients change in circumstances and supporting documents
  • Conduct vacate cleans of all transitional property rooms and ensure rooms are made up ready for occupation
  • All tasks to be carried out in accordance to the policies and procedures of Zonta House

Key Selection Criteria

  • Demonstrated understanding of the WA Residential Tenancies Act 1987
  • A uphold a professional manner to all stakeholders
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • An understanding of the appropriate relationship boundaries with clients and other service providers and the ability to work within the constraints of the job role
  • Solving problems of limited difficulty using knowledge, judgment and organisational skills
  • Demonstrated competency in all Microsoft Office programs

The successful candidate will need to provide:

  • National Police Clearance Certificate
  • Working with Children Check
  • A valid motor vehicle driver's license with a good driving record
