Zig Zag Young Women’s Resource Centre Inc are now recruiting for a permanent part time position of Sexual Assault Counselling and Support Worker – Inala / Camp Hill within our Sexual Assault Program. This permanent position is for 32 hours (4 days) / week and is paid at a QCSCA Level 5. Zig Zag provides a supportive and collaborative work environment for staff, and offers generous above Award employment conditions.

The Sexual Assault Counselling and Support Worker – Inala / Camp Hill position will work collaboratively to deliver high-quality, responsive sexual assault counselling and support services to young women survivors of sexual violence who are residing in the Brisbane Southwest and Wider Brisbane regions. This position will ensure flexible service delivery at the Richlands and Camp Hill service sites, and will include intake and early intervention support; counselling, support and sustained engagement; assertive follow up and referral; and outreach assistance through some mobile outreach services.

This position also has responsibility for the development and facilitation of therapeutic sexual assault support groups, community education, and early intervention and prevention activities to address issues relating to sexual violence within the Brisbane Southwest region in collaboration with the Brisbane Southwest Support (BSwS) partner services: Brisbane Rape and Incest Survivors Support Centre (BRISSC), Murrigunyah, and Immigrant Women’s Support Service (IWSS).

Zig Zag employs women only (EEO exempt). Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and women from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply. Applicants must have a Bachelor degree qualification in Social Work, Social Science, Psychology, Behavioural Science, or other relevant discipline, a minimum of two years’ experience of working therapeutically with women or young people who are survivors of trauma, and a clearly defined practice framework that incorporates intersectional feminist and social justice perspectives. Remuneration is QCSCA Award Level 5 with above award conditions. Salary sacrifice is also available.
