Impactful Work: Be a part of an organisation that is dedicated to making a future where gender equality is a reality

About Us

For over 140 years we have been working at the forefront of gender equality through our housing, community programs and advocacy. Our five-year plan has a focus on making young women’s leadership and women’s housing our priority for gender equity in Australia.

About YWCA Darwin

YWCA NT has been supporting women, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and women from a culturally and linguistically diverse background, in the Territory since 1969. We provide local housing, services and support programs that enable women, their families and other priority groups to find stability and feel safe and secure, so they can build the future they want.

What You’ll Do

YWCA Australia is currently seeking a dedicated Youth Worker to join our CASY House team.

The role is responsible for maintaining a safe and supportive environment for young people who are at risk of or experiencing homelessness in the Darwin region. CASY House is accepting of all young people – regardless of gender.

While residing at CASY House, our team support clients to learn the necessary life skills – things like budgeting, cooking, cleaning and advocating for themselves – to establish their independence and confidence for the future. We support them to find appropriate, stable longer-term accommodation, whatever that may be.

Who You Are

The ideal applicant will have:

  • Previous experience in a Youth Work role, or similar
  • Completed or studying towards a Cert III in Community Services and/or Youth Work
  • An understanding of the complex issues relating to youth homelessness, particularly youth in crisis
  • Availability to perform shift work including weekends and public holidays

Successful candidates will need to complete the following pre-employment requirements:

  • National Criminal History Check
  • Valid State-Based Working with Children Permit

Don’t meet every single requirement? At YWCA Australia we are dedicated to building a diverse, inclusive and authentic workplace. If this role speaks to you but your past experience doesn’t align perfectly, we encourage you to apply anyway.

How to Apply

Ready to join a team that makes a difference? We want to hear from you!
